FALL FASHION REPORT

Fashion today is less about trends
Then it is about personal style.
According to Marie Claire

DRESSES

THE LOOK: Femininity is key for fall, and there’s no better way to express your girly side than with a dress. There are plenty to choose from; everything from demure chiffon cocktail looks to sexy little silk numbers.

  • Match a print dress with a belted cardigan for Bloomsbury style.
  • Don’t button up your cover-up; instead, cinch it with a narrow belt.
  • A long cardigan is chic – but make sure it’s not longer than your dress.

WHAT TO WEAR…

With autumn around the corner, it’s time to wise up to the new season’s stylish new pairing: the dress and the cardigan.

HOW TO WEAR IT: With their rich colors and whimsical details, this season’s dresses need little help from accessories. Pair them with stiletto sandals and a smart bag, and you’re out the door.

 JACKETS & CAPES

THE LOOK: Jackets – a huge hit for spring – remain strong for fall. But this season, there is another option: a cropped cape in luxe (or faux) fur.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Jackets look most modern when shrunken in shape. Capes compliment both ‘50s-style dresses and the new, slimmer pants.

 PANTS

THE LOOK: Pants run the gamut from wide-leg to super-skinny, cropped to floor-skimming. One constant: After years and years of “bumsters,” waistlines are finally creeping up.

HOW TO WEAR IT: That all depends. Do you want to look gamine? Try Perry Ellis Capris. Classic? Go for the Katherine Hepburn – inspired menswear cuts.

 SKIRTS

THE LOOK: Pencils, tulips, and A-lines are the dominant shapes. The look is sweet and alluring, but not in-your-face sexy – hemlines are lower overall.

HOW TO WEAR IT: With knee-high boots or pumps and stockings. Both dark opaques and patterned hose made appearances on the runway.

 SUITS

THE LOOK: Menswear tailoring and feminine details (thick nipped waists and ribbon trims) are the biggest trends.

HOW TO WEAR IT: You don’t have to invest in an entirely new suit to look current. Try last year’s model, topped with a wide belt or a faux-fur collar.

 TWEED

THE LOOK: Some designers showed ladylike, ‘50s-inspired tweeds, but the woolly textile also played a role in the menswear-as-womenswear trend.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Whether plaid, hounds-tooth, or solid, tweed is all about texture, making it the perfect counterpart to smooth silk, soft cashmere, or buttery leather.

 FUR

THE LOOK: Fur is everywhere this season, and in every form – from subtle trims and stoles to dramatic, full-length coats.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Don’t like the idea of wearing pelts? Seek out faux fur instead.  The synthetic stuff has never looked better.

 ANIMAL PRINTS

THE LOOK: Spots and stripes of the wild-kingdom variety are everywhere.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Head-to-toe leopard works on the runway, but pairing a print with a solid is a more real-world-friendly approach.

SHOES

THE LOOK: Boots are big, with sturdier heels and rounder toes, standing out as the hallmarks of this season. But there are plenty of sharp stilettos to keep things sexy.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Slip your foot into a delicious confection of a shoe – and you’ll be best-dressed no matter what else you’re wearing.

 BAGS

THE LOOK: Exotic skins, bold prints, and chain handles are the biggest trends. With so many beautiful options, there is no “it” bag this season.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Banish boring brown and black (unless it’s croc), and make a statement with a fun bag.

 COATS:

THE LOOK: Embellishment – whether in the form of sequin trim, elaborate embroidery, or a fur collar and cuffs – sets this season’s coats apart.

HOW TO WEAR IT: Keep the shape slim, especially when dramatic detail is involved.
